We are seeking a Software Developer to join our Engineering Services team and contribute to best-in-class software applications for the semiconductor industry. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will work as part of a collaborative team solving complex factory and tool automation challenges for customers.
What You’ll Do
As a Software Developer, you will contribute to software integration projects in the semiconductor industry, developing, configuring, integrating, and testing industrial applications that support factory and tool automation. You will work with C#,.NET Framework, and related technologies to build multi-tiered, distributed solutions while collaborating with team members and customers to understand requirements, support integrations, and resolve technical issues.
In this role, you will:
- Develop new or enhance existing C#/.NET customer solutions that integrate with backend systems through WCF, REST APIs, and customer platforms and frameworks.
- Deliver software solutions for new tools, framework migrations, upgrades, and feature enhancements.
- Contribute across the full project lifecycle, including configuration (20%), development (35%), functional and alpha testing (35%), deployment support (10%), as ongoing customer support.
- Collaborate with internal and customer teams across time zones during design, testing, integration, and support activities.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including feature designs, configuration details, and validation of workflows for customer scenarios.
- Build expertise in fab business logic, semiconductor industry standards, common libraries, plugins, and the software stack used in factory and tool automation.
- Own the quality of your work from code development and unit testing through delivery, deployment, and support.
- Participate in software deployment and integration activities for customer factories and tool automation systems, including potential onsite integrations.

This position will be responsible to support PEER in completing a specific customer assignment. As a precondition of employment, PEER’s customer must review and approve the successful candidate’s appointment. We are looking for a team member with:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of software development experience; relevant co-op experience will be considered.
- Strong object-oriented development experience using C# and the .NET Framework.
- Experience developing, configuring, testing, or supporting software within a project team environment.
- Familiarity with data integration, XML, asynchronous programming, and inter-process communication technologies such as WCF or REST APIs.
- Experience in coding multi-threaded, multi-process, or distributed software systems.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated positive attitude towards change, including a willingness to learn established systems and new technologies, adapt to changing priorities, and work through ambiguous technical problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps, GitHub, TFS, or similar software development and source control platforms.
- Possible travel for onsite integrations, and flexibility in working across time zones.
Nice to Have
Exposure to:
- Semiconductor manufacturing, factory automation, MES, robotics, or industrial software environments.
- Agile development practices and collaborating with globally distributed teams or customers.
- Semiconductor industry standards and communication protocols such as SECS/GEM or related automation technologies.
Experience with:
- Integrating software with manufacturing equipment, customer systems, or automation platforms.
- Software deployments, installations, or onsite customer integrations.
- Scripting languages such as Python.
Familiarity with: XML, data integration, and inter-process communication technologies.
The salary range for this role is $70,000 – $102,000CAD annually, reflecting the scope of the role, location-based market conditions, internal equity and the skills and experience a candidate brings. Compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, demonstrated high-performance contributions, and overall alignment within the role category.
