Job Title- Mid-Level Hydrotechnical Engineer
Location- This full-time position is open to candidates located in Peterborough, Ontario, Halifax, Nova Scotia or in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Requirements
- :Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- .Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or commitment to obtain licensure within one year
- .4–6 years of experience in hydrotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field
- .Experience completing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and applying hydrology and hydraulics engineering principles
- .Experience with open channel flow analysis and numerical modeling
- .Proficiency with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS modeling software
- .Experience designing hydraulic structures, dams, or water resources infrastructure
- .Experience performing hydrologic studies, including Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) and Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) analyses
- .Experience with floodplain mapping, dam breach studies, and consequence assessments
- .Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- .Experience coordinating project work with other engineering disciplines
- .Authorization to work in Canada and ability to obtain authorization to work in the United States as required
- .Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
- .Experience with dam safety projects
- .Experience in fish passage engineering and fish passage structure design
- .Experience with CFD modeling software such as FLOW-3D
- .Knowledge of Canadian Dam Association Guidelines, bulletins, and applicable provincial regulations
- .Experience with river ice studies
- .Experience with dam decommissioning, dam removal, stream restoration, or hydropower feasibility projects
- .Experience collaborating with regulators, biologists, and environmental scientists
- .Ability to obtain and maintain additional provincial engineering licenses as needed
