Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Technical Oversight
- Serve as the technical lead during engineering and design and the primary technical contact during construction and commissioning
- Manage engineering scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables in alignment with overall project objectives
- Coordinate engineering resources across multiple disciplines to support project execution
- Provide technical oversight and direction to internal engineering teams, designers, consultants, and contractors
- Work closely with project, engineering, construction, procurement, operations, and site teams to ensure project requirements are aligned
- Lead design reviews and technical meetings with clients, site personnel, consultants, and key stakeholders
Engineering & Design Coordination
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering and design activities from concept through detailed design and execution
- Review engineering deliverables, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation
- Coordinate with external engineering consultants and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of engineering packages
- Support procurement activities, including tender preparation, technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and post-award technical support
- Coordinate vendor design reviews, shop inspections, factory acceptance testing, and turnover documentation
- Support project planning, estimates, material takeoffs, and capital funding requests
Project Execution
- Monitor engineering progress and provide regular reporting on scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables
- Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations
- Support construction planning, field execution, commissioning, and start-up activities
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning and act as a key engineering point of contact for project teams
- Work collaboratively with project managers, construction teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Professional Engineering designation with APEGS eligibility/registration required
- 10+ years of engineering experience in mining
- Proven experience leading engineering activities for capital projects
- Experience working through multiple phases of the project lifecycle, from engineering and design through construction and commissioning
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
- Experience coordinating engineering consultants, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders
- Strong understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Experience supporting procurement activities, including tender preparation, technical evaluations, and vendor reviews
- Ability to manage engineering scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and project deliverables
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment
