DESCRIPTION
The Strategic Segment & Customer Marketing Manager is a strategic, customer-focused marketing leader responsible for developing and executing market-driven growth strategies across Phoenix Contact's priority industries.
This role serves as the voice of the customer and market within the organization, translating customer challenges, market opportunities, and industry trends into targeted marketing strategies, compelling narratives, and engagement programs that accelerate adoption of Phoenix Contact's solutions and systems.
Working closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Technical Support, and Partner Ecosystem teams, you will develop customer-centric messaging, execute Account-Based Marketing (ABM) initiatives, identify strategic growth opportunities, and position Phoenix Contact as a trusted solutions partner across key industries.
The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, market insight, and modern B2B marketing expertise with the ability to communicate complex technical solutions in a compelling and meaningful way.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Market & Segment Development
- Develop and execute strategic marketing plans aligned with corporate growth objectives and market priorities.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize market opportunities, niche applications, and emerging segments through research, customer insight, and industry intelligence.
- Apply segmentation methodologies, market attractiveness analysis, and business attractiveness frameworks to focus resources on the highest-value opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and market developments to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
- Support long-term market development initiatives that strengthen Phoenix Contact's position within targeted industries.
Customer Messaging & Strategic Positioning
- Own customer and segment messaging strategies for Phoenix Contact's solutions, systems, and technology platforms.
- Develop compelling value propositions and customer narratives that connect technical capabilities to measurable business outcomes.
- Create persona-based messaging tailored to technical, operational, executive, and procurement stakeholders.
- Ensure messaging consistently reflects Phoenix Contact's differentiated market position and customer-first approach.
- Establish customer-centric storytelling that shifts conversations from products to integrated solutions and business value.
Solutions & Systems Platforming
- Lead the transition from product-centric marketing to solutions- and platform-based marketing.
- Develop go-to-market strategies that demonstrate how Phoenix Contact technologies solve complex customer challenges.
- Position integrated systems and solutions through customer-focused business outcomes, operational improvements, reliability enhancements, digital transformation, and sustainability benefits.
- Collaborate with technical and product experts to translate complex concepts into clear and impactful customer communications.
Account-Based Marketing & Strategic Engagement
- Lead Account-Based Marketing (ABM) initiatives targeting high-value customers and strategic growth opportunities.
- Develop tailored engagement programs designed to increase awareness, consideration, and adoption within priority accounts and industries.
- Partner with Sales teams to identify key accounts, growth opportunities, and strategic engagement priorities.
- Support customer-facing initiatives that strengthen relationships with decision-makers and influencers.
Campaign Development & Demand Generation
- Design and execute integrated marketing campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and demand generation.
- Develop customer-centric marketing programs that align with commercial objectives and support pipeline growth.
- Utilize marketing automation, CRM tools, digital channels, and analytics to maximize campaign performance.
- Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and optimize marketing activities based on measurable results.
Industry & Ecosystem Development
- Build relationships with distributors, solution partners, engineering firms, consultants, industry associations, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Represent Phoenix Contact at industry events, conferences, customer forums, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Support ecosystem alignment by promoting consistent customer narratives and strategic market positioning.
- Increase Phoenix Contact's visibility and influence within targeted industries and market segments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Technical Support, and Business Leadership teams.
- Ensure customer and market insights influence marketing priorities, solution positioning, and growth initiatives.
- Align marketing efforts with commercial objectives and strategic business priorities.
- Foster organizational alignment around customer needs and market opportunities.
Performance Measurement & Market Intelligence
- Establish and track key performance indicators for market growth, engagement, campaign effectiveness, and solution adoption.
- Monitor marketing contribution to pipeline development and business growth.
- Analyze customer feedback, market trends, and campaign performance to guide continuous improvement.
- Deliver regular insights and recommendations based on data-driven decision-making.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing
- MBA considered an asset.
- 5 to 8 years of progressive B2B marketing experience in industrial automation, electrical, technology, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, industrial process, or related technical industries.
- Candidates with 8+ years of strategic marketing experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Proven success developing and executing segment marketing, customer marketing, solution marketing, or strategic growth initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience with Account-Based Marketing (ABM), customer engagement programs, and market development strategies.
- Experience translating complex technical concepts into compelling customer value propositions and business-focused messaging.
- Experience supporting go-to-market strategies within technology, industrial, automation, software, systems, or solutions-driven organizations.
