We're looking for a Software Engineer I Co-op to join the FlowPlatform Team in Vancouver, BC for an 8-month co-op term. In this role, you will work on a variety of development and platform engineering initiatives across our engineering organization.
Software Engineer I Co-ops on the FlowPlatform team will be exposed to a broad range of technologies and responsibilities that will help build a strong foundation for a career in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Operations. The FlowPlatform team plays a critical role in supporting engineering productivity, software delivery, infrastructure reliability, and the availability of our customer-facing services.
Students currently enrolled in an applicable co-op program at BCIT, UBC, UVic, or SFU will be considered for this role. Please note you must apply through your co-op office as well and provide your academic transcript with your application.
What You'll Do- Leverage Planview-approved AI tools and engineering copilots to accelerate learning, research, troubleshooting, documentation, and software development activities.
- Design, develop, and test software solutions in accordance with established engineering standards and best practices.
- Participate in peer reviews of source code and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
- Analyze, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve application and infrastructure issues.
- Develop and maintain automation tools that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to cloud and infrastructure initiatives across AWS or Azure or GCP etc.
- Develop, test, and maintain internal tools and customer-facing web applications.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools that can add value, efficiency, and optimization to our engineering operations.
- Contribute to Platform Engineering, DevOps, and DevSecOps initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for automation, self-service tooling, and improved developer experiences.
What You'll BringRequired Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or similar.
- Familiarity with Linux or Unix-based operating systems.
- Experience using Git or other source control systems.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, including debugging, testing, and problem solving.
- Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, or application development concepts.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for learning new technologies.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation.
- Familiarity with Docker or containerized application development.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools such as Terraform.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Ansible, ArgoCD, or similar platform technologies.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, HTTP protocols, and web services.
- Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Experience contributing to personal, academic, open-source, or hackathon projects.
Bonus Points in the age of GenAI/AgenticAI
We're especially interested in students who demonstrate curiosity and initiative in exploring emerging technologies.
Examples include:
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, Amazon Q, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate learning, troubleshooting, coding, testing, or documentation.
- Interest in Generative AI, intelligent automation, AI agents, or developer productivity tooling.
- Personal, academic, or hackathon projects that showcase creative use of AI, automation, cloud, or software engineering technologies.
