We’re looking for a Application Architect to join our Digital Solutions team within our Winnipeg Office.
The Application Architect is responsible for the design and technical direction of applications within Pollard Banknote Limited's digital product portfolio. The role designs major aspects of the Pollard Digital Engagement Platform, translating business and product requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
Reporting to the Manager, Application Architecture, the incumbent works hands-on with Software Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Developer Operations teams to guide solution design, uphold architecture standards, and support delivery through the full software development lifecycle. The role also conducts research and development on emerging technologies, including AI-enabled development tools, and recommends improvements that increase cost-effectiveness and system flexibility

What You'll Do
- Design major aspects of the application architecture for the Pollard Digital Engagement Platform, including services, APIs, integrations, data flows, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
- Translate business and product requirements into solution designs, architecture documentation, and technical specifications for engineering teams.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to development teams through design sessions, design and code reviews, prototypes, and proof-of-concept work.
- Document and analyze the existing application architecture and technology portfolio; recommend improvements, alternatives, and modernization opportunities.
- Apply and help maintain application architecture standards, principles, and best practices, including standards for the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
- Assess and recommend opportunities to leverage AI-enabled tools, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns to improve solution design, development efficiency, and system capabilities.Identify, assess, and resolve complex technical problems where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Support continuous improvement, business development, and standardization initiatives across the digital product portfolio.

What You'll Bring
- Tenured experience with web technologies and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Laravel, or Microsoft .Net, developing and maintaining scalable web applications.
- Current experience designing and developing REST web services or event-driven systems.
- Current experience with microservices and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, including designing, deploying, and managing microservice-based applications.
- Experience with modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, and with user-centered design principles for responsive, efficient user interfaces.
- Experience with mobile platform development and best practices; understanding of Apple App Store and Google Play Store guidelines is an asset.
- Experience applying SDLC and Agile development best practices in IT service delivery.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools and technologies and their impact on application architecture, software delivery, and platform design.
