Senior Embryologist – IVF Laboratory
We are seeking an experienced Senior Embryologist to join our IVF Laboratory team in Ottawa.
This role is ideal for an embryologist with strong technical expertise in IVF laboratory procedures, micromanipulation techniques, and embryo culture systems who is looking to contribute to a progressive fertility program.
Working closely with the IVF Laboratory Director and multidisciplinary clinical team, the Senior Embryologist will perform advanced laboratory procedures while supporting quality improvement, laboratory innovation, and optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform core embryology procedures including oocyte processing, insemination, embryo culture, grading, cryopreservation, and embryo transfer preparation
- Perform advanced procedures including ICSI and embryo biopsy for PGT
- Maintain strict adherence to IVF laboratory protocols, quality control, and quality assurance standards
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and environmental conditions
- Troubleshoot laboratory processes and implement evidence-based improvements
- Collaborate with reproductive endocrinologists, fertility nurses, and genetic counselors
- Assist with implementation of new IVF laboratory technologies and techniques
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Participate in laboratory audits, data review, and research initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in an IVF laboratory as an embryologist
- Master’s or PhD in Embryology, Reproductive Biology, or related field
- Advanced experience with:
- Embryo culture systems
- ICSI
- Embryo biopsy (PGT)
- Cryopreservation / vitrification
- Knowledge of IVF laboratory accreditation and quality management systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary clinical team
- Certification or eligibility for recognized embryology certification preferred
