Role Description The Senior Chemist will work on-site in Montreal, QC in a full-time capacity, leading laboratory projects related to specialty chemical products and applications. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, and supporting research and development initiatives for key market segments such as coatings, personal care, home care, plastics, and construction chemicals. The role involves implementing and maintaining quality control protocols, performing analytical tests, and ensuring products meet company and regulatory requirements. The Senior Chemist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance, assist in troubleshooting customer applications, and contribute to continuous improvement of formulations and processes. This position also requires documenting findings, preparing technical reports, and staying current with industry trends and new technologies.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Laboratory Skills, including experimental design, sample preparation, and safe handling of chemicals.
- Candidates should possess robust Quality Control and Analytical Skills to perform testing, interpret data, and ensure product consistency.
- Candidates should possess solid Research and Development (R&D) and Research skills to create, optimize, and validate new formulations and processes.
- Relevant academic background such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in specialty chemicals or related industries (e.g., coatings, personal care, home care, plastics, construction) is highly beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail, and ability to document and communicate technical information clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, good laboratory practices, and applicable industry standards.
