About the Opportunity
Our Client is an established technology and systems integration organization supporting commercial, institutional, industrial, mission-critical, and enterprise environments.
Our Client is seeking an experienced Field Supervisor to oversee field execution across technical installation and systems integration projects.
The Field Supervisor will coordinate and supervise field technicians, installers, subcontractors, project activities, site requirements, installation quality, productivity, safety, and readiness for testing, commissioning, and turnover.
The role works closely with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, engineering teams, technical specialists, subcontractors, customers, and other project stakeholders to ensure field work is completed safely, correctly, on schedule, and in accordance with project requirements.
Experience within Building Automation Systems (BAS), controls, electronic security, low-voltage systems, electrical systems, or other integrated building technologies is highly preferred. BAS or Security experience is particularly relevant, although candidates from comparable technical construction and systems integration environments may also be considered.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day field activities across assigned projects and job sites.
- Direct the work of field technicians, installers, subcontractors, and other site resources.
- Coordinate labour requirements, work assignments, priorities, sequencing, and site activities.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to align field execution with project schedules, scope, milestones, and customer requirements.
- Review project scope, drawings, specifications, schedules, installation requirements, and other technical documentation before and during field execution.
- Ensure field teams understand project requirements, priorities, installation standards, and expected completion dates.
- Monitor job-site progress and identify potential schedule, labour, material, quality, or technical issues before they affect project delivery.
- Escalate significant risks, delays, deficiencies, scope issues, or resource requirements to project leadership.
- Monitor field productivity and help identify causes of delays, rework, low productivity, or installation inefficiencies.
- Coordinate installation activities with other trades, contractors, consultants, vendors, and customer representatives.
- Confirm required materials, equipment, tools, drawings, and information are available to field teams when needed.
- Support the resolution of material shortages, incorrect shipments, damaged equipment, or other field-related supply issues.
- Review completed installations for workmanship, completeness, compliance with project requirements, and readiness for testing or commissioning.
- Support QA/QC inspections and deficiency identification.
- Track deficiencies and coordinate corrective work through completion.
- Support testing, system start-up, commissioning, functional verification, and turnover activities.
- Assist technical teams with troubleshooting installation, controls, electrical, communication, or integration issues as required.
- Confirm field changes and site conditions are properly communicated to the project team and reflected in project records where required.
- Support preparation and collection of field documentation, test records, commissioning information, redlines, as-built information, deficiencies, and closeout records.
- Participate in project meetings, site coordination meetings, construction meetings, and internal project reviews as required.
- Communicate field progress, outstanding issues, labour requirements, and upcoming activities to project leadership.
- Maintain effective communication with customers and other site stakeholders.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, site requirements, project standards, and company procedures.
- Promote and enforce health and safety requirements across assigned work sites.
- Identify unsafe conditions or practices and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Coach, mentor, and support field personnel in improving technical capability, installation practices, productivity, and quality.
- Provide feedback regarding technician performance, development needs, field capability, and resource requirements.
- Support onboarding and field orientation of new technicians or subcontractors where required.
- Help establish consistent field practices across projects and teams.
- Participate in project closeout and ensure outstanding field work and deficiencies are addressed before completion.
- Perform other related field supervision and project delivery responsibilities as required.

- Strong understanding of construction and technical project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, scopes of work, and project documentation.
- Ability to plan and sequence field activities.
- Strong understanding of installation quality and workmanship requirements.
- Ability to identify field risks, deficiencies, coordination issues, and schedule impacts.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, engineers, customers, contractors, and field personnel.
- Experience supporting system testing, commissioning, start-up, or turnover.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple work fronts, crews, priorities, or projects where required.
- Strong attention to health, safety, quality, and project requirements.
- Ability to coach and develop field personnel.
Preferred Experience
The following would be considered particularly valuable:
- BAS / BMS installation and controls experience.
- Electronic security or low-voltage systems experience.
- Experience supervising systems integration projects.
- Experience in occupied buildings, large commercial facilities, institutional environments, campuses, or mission-critical facilities.
- Data centre project experience.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades.
- Commissioning and functional testing experience.
- QA/QC inspection and deficiency-management experience.
- Controls or system troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with brownfield renovations, retrofits, migrations, or modernization projects.
- Experience working across multiple buildings or simultaneous project sites.
Experience & Education
- Technical diploma, trade qualification, construction-related education, controls training, or equivalent industry experience.
- Approximately 5+ years of relevant technical construction, field installation, controls, integration, or related experience is preferred.
- Approximately 3+ years of field leadership, lead-hand, foreperson, supervisory, or equivalent responsibility is preferred.
- More senior candidates should demonstrate experience independently directing multiple field resources, coordinating subcontractors, managing field priorities, and resolving site issues.
- BAS, controls, security, electrical, mechanical, or other systems integration experience is highly preferred but may not be mandatory where the candidate has strong transferable technical field leadership experience.
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
- Must be able to work regularly at customer and project sites.
- Must be able to travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions as required.
- A valid driver’s licence is required.
- Must be comfortable working within active construction, commercial, institutional, industrial, or technical environments.
- Availability outside normal business hours may occasionally be required depending on project activities, commissioning, shutdowns, or critical site requirements.
