Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Generator Technician role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. The Generator Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing generators and related power equipment used in rental and temperature control applications. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing routine inspections, and conducting preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The role also involves responding to service calls, including urgent and after-hours requests when scheduled, documenting all work performed, and communicating clearly with team members and customers about equipment status and recommended actions. The technician is expected to follow safety standards, maintain tools and vehicles in good condition, and support continuous improvement of service processes.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience servicing generators, diesel engines, and related power equipment.
- Knowledge of basic electrical systems, including ability to read wiring diagrams and safely work with power distribution components.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, test equipment, and standard maintenance procedures for industrial or rental equipment.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective repairs under time pressure.
- Commitment to safety practices, including adherence to workplace safety regulations and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, and for documenting maintenance and repair activities clearly and accurately.
- Ability to work on-site, travel within the Greater Toronto Area as needed, and perform tasks that may involve lifting, climbing, and working in varied weather conditions.
- Previous experience in generator service, power rental, HVAC, or industrial maintenance is an asset.
- Relevant technical training or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance fields is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record suitable for operating company vehicles.
