Rustic Pines is a Christian Carpentry company specializing in Outdoor Living since 1999. We are looking for an experienced carpentry professional with strong management skills and hands-on knowledge of outdoor living construction. We're looking for a Lead hand to take ownership of assigned projects from planning through completion, while working closely with a small crew, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep projects running smoothly.
This is a physically demanding, on-site role where you'll be responsible for schedules, quality, safety, and overall project success. The ideal candidate has experience with decks, pergolas, and other custom exterior construction, along with a strong understanding of construction practices and the ability to lead and support field teams. You will be working on construction sites daily and with power tools. We strive to make every project one that we can be proud of!

Position Summary
The Lead hand is accountable for the successful planning, execution, and completion of all assigned projects. Reporting to management, you'll oversee project schedules, crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, quality, and safety.
You'll work closely with Lead Hands and field crews to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and to company standards. You'll also be responsible for identifying potential risks or delays early and taking action to keep projects moving forward.
This is a full-time position based in Ancaster, Ontario, with an immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of assigned projects from planning through completion.
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, deliveries, and equipment to keep projects running efficiently.
- Review project plans, layouts, measurements, and specifications.
- Ensure work meets company quality standards and customer expectations.
- Oversee safety compliance across all job sites and ensure applicable regulations and company policies are followed.
- Support, mentor, and develop Crewmembers to strengthen field leadership.
- Foster team unity and maintain positive working relationships across project teams.
- Monitor project progress and adjust schedules, resources, and workflow as required.
- Maintain accurate project records and communicate relevant updates to management.
- Ensure accurate time tracking and project documentation.

- 5+ years of experience in the construction or carpentry industry.
- Experience using power tools.
- 1+ year of experience leading construction or carpentry crews.
- Direct hands-on experience building decks and other outdoor living structures.
- Recent hands-on carpentry or construction experience, not only supervisory experience.
- Experience in residential construction, renovations, exterior construction, framing, finish carpentry, or custom carpentry.
- Hands-on experience with deck framing, footings, posts, beams, joists, stairs, and railings.
- Experience with TradeTraks is an asset.
