Role Description The Senior Architectural Technologist will play a key role in translating design concepts into detailed, buildable solutions, working closely with architects and project teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and coordinating technical drawings, developing comprehensive working and construction drawing packages, and ensuring documentation aligns with building codes, standards, and project requirements. The role involves collaborating with consultants and contractors, reviewing shop drawings, addressing technical issues during design and construction phases, and supporting quality control of project documentation. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Calgary, AB, with a combination of in-studio collaboration and some work-from-home flexibility.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Architectural Technology, with the ability to integrate design intent and technical requirements into coherent project documentation.
- Advanced skills in Technical Drawing, including precision, clarity, and adherence to relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Experience producing detailed Working Drawings that support permitting, tendering, and construction phases.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and coordinate comprehensive Architectural Drawings for a variety of project types.
- Proficiency in Construction Drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and details that guide on-site execution.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction practices relevant to Alberta and Canadian projects.
- Competence with industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit proficieny is must, and related design/documentation platforms).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with external partners.
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a related field, with several years of progressive experience in architectural practice.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a studio environment.
