Position Summary
The Project Manager at Premform is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and successful completion of construction projects. This role manages projects from contract award through closeout, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Manage construction projects from award through completion and closeout.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and milestones.
- Establish project objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate project activities to ensure work progresses according to approved plans and schedules.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, risks, and challenges.
- Develop and implement corrective actions when required.
2. Budget & Cost Control
- Establish and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, changes, and overall financial performance.
- Review project expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
- Review and approve project invoices, progress billings, and payment applications as required.
- Monitor project profitability and provide regular financial updates to senior management.
3. Contract Administration
- Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
- Ensure project activities comply with contractual requirements.
- Manage change orders, credits, claims, and other contractual matters.
- Prepare and maintain project correspondence and documentation.
- Identify contractual risks and escalate significant issues to senior management.
- Ensure proper documentation of project decisions, approvals, and commitments.
4. Project Coordination
- Coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, Operations, Accounting, Safety, and Site teams.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical requirements.
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery requirements.
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Ensure project information is communicated effectively to all relevant parties.
5. Scheduling & Progress Monitoring
- Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the site team and other stakeholders.
- Monitor critical activities, milestones, and project deliverables.
- Track project progress against approved schedules.
- Identify schedule risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate recovery plans where projects fall behind schedule.
6. Quality
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Address quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
- Prepare regular project status reports for senior management.
- Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, deficiencies, schedules, and other project documentation.
- Ensure all required closeout documentation is completed.
8. Project Closeout
- Coordinate project completion, deficiencies, inspections, and turnover.
- Ensure outstanding issues are resolved before final project closeout.
- Review final project costs and assist with final billing and financial reconciliation.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in construction project management
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Ontario construction practices and applicable legislation
Salary Range: $80,000- $100,000K
Final Compensation will be determined based on skills, experience & expertise.
