Role Description The Carpenter at Premium Construction is a full-time, hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with some flexibility for work from home when project needs allow. The Carpenter will perform day-to-day tasks such as framing, installing structural and finish components, and completing interior and exterior carpentry work on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting plans and specifications, setting up and maintaining tools and equipment, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling, installing, and repairing wood and related materials. The Carpenter will work closely with site supervisors and other trades to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule, while upholding company standards for quality and craftsmanship. The role also requires adherence to safety protocols, proper housekeeping of work areas, and professional communication with team members and clients as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong carpentry skills, including experience with structural and finish work
- Proficiency in using power tools safely and effectively
- Experience with framing techniques for walls, floors, and roofs
- Competence with a range of hand tools for measuring, cutting, and assembling materials
- Knowledge of finish carpentry, including trim, doors, cabinetry, and detailed woodwork
- Understanding of construction drawings, building codes, and industry standards
- Commitment to workplace safety and familiarity with relevant safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in commercial or industrial construction is an asset
- Reliable transportation to job sites in and around Toronto, ON
- Physical ability to perform carpentry tasks, including lifting, standing, and working with tools for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification or apprenticeship training in carpentry is an advantage
