Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team. Reporting to the CFO, this is a hands-on role responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and project accounting within a fast-paced, project-based environment.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of their work while collaborating with both finance and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Payroll
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
- Process payroll and ensure all related remittances and year-end requirements are completed accurately
- Assist with GST, payroll, and other government filings
- Support year-end activities and work with external accounting partners as required
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Project Accounting
- Support project accounting and job costing activities
- Track project expenses, budgets, and costs throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor project performance and identify variances or potential cost concerns
- Work with project and operations teams to ensure expenses are accurately recorded and allocated
Financial Support
- Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for the CFO and leadership team
- Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience
- Payroll experience required
- Experience with project accounting or job costing is an asset
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
- Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
- CPA designation or actively working toward CPA is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating across teams
