Key Objectives
- Develop, maintain, and enhance RPG-based applications to support business operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability through proactive troubleshooting and optimization.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and debug RPG programs in accordance with business requirements.
- Maintain and update existing RPG applications, ensuring compatibility with current systems.
- Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional specifications.
- Identify and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Document code changes and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support integration efforts with other systems and platforms.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to RPG programming and IBM i environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an RPG Programmer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of RPG IV (ILE RPG) and familiarity with RPG III is a plus.
- Experience working on IBM i (AS/400) systems.
- Understanding of database concepts, particularly DB2.
- Ability to write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
