ProMart Industrial is a third generation, family built fabrication and industrial contracting company that has been operating in Sarnia since 1985.
Our facilities include an 80,000 square foot fabrication shop, a 25,000 square foot climate controlled coating facility, and an 11 acre laydown yard. We provide in house detailing, fabrication, industrial coatings, modular assembly, field installation, millwrighting, and construction services to clients across North America.
ProMart is continuing to grow its presence in Canada’s nuclear industry. We are looking for an experienced Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager who can lead our nuclear quality program, support our people, and help us build lasting relationships with nuclear clients across the country.
The Role
The Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for maintaining, strengthening, and continually improving ProMart’s nuclear quality assurance program in accordance with CSA N299.3, client requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
This is a hands on leadership position for someone who understands that nuclear quality cannot live in a manual. It has to be understood and followed by everyone involved, from estimating and procurement through detailing, fabrication, inspection, documentation, and final turnover.
The right person will be comfortable working directly with clients, auditors, project managers, suppliers, quality personnel, and the shop floor. They will be able to interpret requirements clearly, build practical processes around them, and make sure ProMart is ready to perform when the work arrives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain ProMart’s CSA N299.3 nuclear quality assurance program
- Maintain the Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual and supporting procedures, forms, plans, and records
- Interpret nuclear contracts, specifications, codes, standards, and client quality requirements
- Ensure project requirements are identified, understood, documented, and communicated before work begins
- Support bid reviews, contract reviews, project planning, and the development of nuclear quality plans
- Develop and review inspection and test plans, procedures, work instructions, and project specific quality documentation
- Establish and maintain document control, records management, traceability, and configuration control requirements
- Ensure purchased materials, services, and subcontracted work meet all applicable nuclear quality requirements
- Lead supplier qualification, evaluation, surveillance, and performance monitoring activities
- Support material identification, certification, traceability, preservation, and control throughout the fabrication process
- Oversee nonconformance reporting, corrective actions, root cause investigations, and effectiveness reviews
- Manage internal audits and support client, regulatory, third party, and external certification audits
- Coordinate audit preparation, responses, corrective actions, and follow up activities
- Act as the primary quality contact for nuclear clients and approved supplier qualification activities
- Provide leadership and support to quality inspectors and other personnel involved in nuclear work
- Develop and deliver training on nuclear quality requirements, procedures, documentation, and nuclear safety culture
- Promote a strong questioning attitude and ensure quality concerns can be raised and addressed without hesitation
- Monitor quality performance, identify trends, and report results to senior management
- Lead management reviews and provide clear recommendations for improvement
- Work closely with operations, project management, estimating, procurement, detailing, fabrication, coatings, and field services
- Ensure measuring and test equipment, inspection records, welder qualifications, welding procedures, and required certifications are properly controlled
- Support client hold points, witness points, source surveillance, final inspections, and turnover documentation
- Ensure nuclear records are complete, accurate, legible, traceable, and retained in accordance with contractual requirements
- Stay current with changes to applicable nuclear codes, standards, client expectations, and industry practices
- Help shape ProMart’s long term nuclear strategy and build the systems required to support increasingly complex work
What We Are Looking For
- Significant quality assurance experience within the Canadian nuclear industry or another highly regulated fabrication environment
- Strong working knowledge of the CSA N299 series, particularly CSA N299.3
- Experience developing, implementing, maintaining, or auditing a nuclear quality assurance program
- Experience preparing for and leading client, supplier, certification, or regulatory audits
- Strong understanding of nuclear procurement, supplier qualification, material traceability, document control, and quality records
- Experience with nonconformance control, corrective action, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- The ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications, drawings, codes, standards, and technical requirements
- Experience supporting fabrication, welding, coatings, construction, or industrial project execution
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, CSA W47.1, CSA W59, CWB requirements, and related fabrication standards is an asset
- Nuclear auditor or lead auditor training is a strong asset
- Experience with client approved supplier lists and nuclear vendor qualification is a strong asset
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to make quality requirements practical and understandable for the people performing the work
- Excellent written communication, organization, documentation, and problem solving skills
- The confidence to raise concerns, challenge decisions when necessary, and protect the integrity of the quality program
- A diploma or degree in engineering, quality management, engineering technology, welding technology, or a related discipline is an asset
