Providence Health Care is seeking a Manager, Wellness to lead the development and delivery of organization-wide strategies and initiatives that support the mental health, well-being, and psychological and physical safety of our people.
Reporting to the Director, Occupational Health and Safety, you’ll lead a team of health and safety professionals and work closely with leaders and partners across PHC to move complex wellness initiatives from strategy through to implementation. You’ll bring strong project planning and management skills to establish priorities, coordinate multiple workstreams and stakeholders, manage timelines and deliverables, and ensure initiatives are successfully implemented and evaluated across the organization.
From advancing PHC’s psychological health and safety framework and developing evidence-informed programs, to building organizational awareness and supporting meaningful culture change, this role offers the opportunity to lead projects with broad organizational impact.
This is a hybrid opportunity, offering a combination of on-site and remote work. We’re looking for an experienced health and wellness leader who can pair expertise in psychological health and safety with exceptional project management, stakeholder engagement and change leadership skills. You’ll be comfortable navigating complex initiatives, building alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, and translating strategy, evidence and organizational needs into practical, sustainable programs.

What You Bring
Education
- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology, Organizational Behaviour or a related field.
- Seven (7) years recent, related experience as a health and safety professional including leadership experience managing staff/project teams, preferably in a unionized setting.
- Knowledge of health promotion and illness/disease prevention, mental health programs, occupational health and safety prevention practices and experience in program development, implementation, marketing and evaluation.
Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques pertaining to psychological health and wellness management.
- Knowledge of the collective agreements, relevant employment standards, health and safety legislation and other regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of the health coaching process to support healthy behavior change in clients.
- Ability to supervise, lead and direct others including team members, leaders and staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present clear and decisive information, using the principles of adult education.
- Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and delegate work in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, at all levels of the organization, with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong mediation and facilitation skills, and the ability to problem solve complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Proven skills in project planning and management.
- Demonstrated ability to compile, analyze and maintain statistical data.
- Knowledge of research methodology and commitment to program evaluation.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including various computer software applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Your Day to Day
Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of PHC-wide psychological health, safety and wellness frameworks, strategies, policies, programs and initiatives, in
collaboration with Directors, Managers and other key stakeholders, and in alignment with CSA Psychologically Safe Workplace standards and other applicable industry standards.
Provides expert advice, consultation and guidance to leaders and staff on psychological health and safety, workplace wellness, critical incident management and related practices; identifies and evaluates workplace policies, programs and practices that may impact employee psychological health and wellness.
Develops and evaluates programs and policies using evidence-based research, organizational and individual needs assessments, statistical analysis, occupational and mental health research, legislative and regulatory requirements, communicable disease prevention practices and chronic disease management strategies.
Leads the organizational implementation, communication, promotion and adoption of psychological health, safety and wellness initiatives, including developing presentations, reports, briefings, recommendations, awareness campaigns and employee/leader education and training.
Provides leadership and day-to-day direction to assigned team members, including workload and staffing coordination, recruitment, mentoring and coaching, performance management and development, while promoting effective working relationships within Human Resources and across the organization.
Develops and maintains strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to establish and advance policies and practices, negotiate contracts, expand programs, secure funding and support new initiatives; participates on relevant committees, working groups and organizational processes as a subject matter expert.
Supports the operational and strategic management of the portfolio, including budget planning and expenditure monitoring, identifying and reporting emerging issues and trends to the Director, maintaining awareness of developments and best practices in health care and health promotion, and identifying opportunities to continuously improve programs, services and educational resources.
