Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada, working from PSG CPA’s offices in Port Coquitlam or Surrey, BC. This role includes preparing and reviewing corporate and personal tax returns, financial statements, and working papers for small to medium-sized businesses and individual clients. The Senior Accountant will handle accounting and assurance engagements, support audit and review assignments, and oversee bookkeeping quality and reconciliations. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting tax planning, providing business advisory insights, communicating with clients on technical and compliance matters, and ensuring all filings are accurate and timely. The role also involves mentoring junior team members, contributing to process improvements, and supporting the firm’s commitment to high-quality client service.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including preparation and review of financial statements, working papers, and reconciliations.
- Demonstrated experience in corporate and personal taxation, including tax planning and compliance for small to medium-sized businesses and individual clients.
- Background in assurance and audit engagements, including reviews and compilations for for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
- Proficiency with bookkeeping processes and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interactions and collaboration with team members.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent; experience in public practice in Canada is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site, manage multiple engagements, and maintain confidentiality and integrity in all client matters.
