Role Description The Owner role at Barbican is a full-time, on-site position based in Fort Erie, ON, responsible for overall business leadership and strategic direction. Day-to-day tasks include setting company goals, overseeing financial performance, and making key decisions on product development, operations, and market positioning. The Owner leads senior management, supports cross-functional collaboration, and ensures that manufacturing, quality control, and customer service processes align with organizational standards. This role also involves building and maintaining relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners, while representing Barbican in the architectural and lighting design communities. The Owner is expected to foster an inclusive, safety-conscious workplace and drive continuous improvement across all aspects of the business.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in business ownership, executive leadership, or senior management within manufacturing, lighting, architecture, or related industries.
- Strong background in strategic planning, financial management, budgeting, and performance analysis.
- Knowledge of commercial lighting products, building systems, or architectural materials, with the ability to understand technical specifications and design requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and develop diverse teams, manage organizational change, and build a positive, inclusive work culture.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience overseeing operations, production workflows, quality assurance, and supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work on-site in Fort Erie, ON, and maintain a hands-on presence in daily operations.
- Post-secondary education in business, engineering, design, or a related field is an asset; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, employment standards, and relevant industry codes and certifications.
