We are seeking a Senior Project Controls Planner to support our client on a major mining project in northern British Columbia. In this role, you'll be the technical authority for project planning and scheduling, ensuring that integrated, realistic and risk-informed schedules drive execution across all phases of the project.

The project is a gold and copper mine located in northern British Columbia. The mine is transitioning from open pit to underground block caving. This transition will create new, technically advanced roles and opportunities to work alongside global experts.

Your Impact
As Senior Project Controls (Planning Focus), you will be the technical authority for project planning and scheduling, ensuring that integrated, realistic and risk-informed schedules drive execution across all phases of the project. Your work will directly influence how scope, time and resources are aligned, enabling informed decision-making and predictable delivery in a complex construction and development environment.
You will play a critical role in translating strategy into executable plans, supporting project leaders with clear visibility of critical paths, interfaces, constraints and recovery opportunities.
Role & Responsibilities
As a part of the team, you will:
- Lead the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of integrated project schedules across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, specifically for the mining development for the block cave.
- Establish and manage schedule baselines, progress measurement systems and change control processes.
- Perform critical path analysis, schedule risk analysis, and “what-if” scenario modelling to support proactive decision-making.
- Identify schedule risks, interfaces and constraints, and work with multidisciplinary teams to develop mitigation and recovery plans.
- Implement lookahead planning and short-interval control to improve execution predictability in construction phases.
- Ensure alignment between project schedules, contractor schedules and EPCM planning frameworks.
- Develop schedule performance reporting, dashboards and narratives for project leadership and key stakeholders.
- Champion planning best practices, tools and methodologies across the project, mentoring planners and control teams.
- Ensure compliance with project controls, planning standards and governance frameworks.
Qualifications / Requirements
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in project planning and scheduling within large-scale or mega projects, preferably in mining, resources or heavy industrial environments, and specifically experience with block caving.
- Advanced proficiency in planning and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and schedule risk analysis methodologies.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, interfaces, and execution strategies in complex projects.
- Proven ability to develop integrated schedules across multiple contractors and disciplines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate schedule data into actionable insights for leadership.
- Effective communicator and influencer in cross-functional, multicultural environments.
Salary Range for Role: $80-$95/h
Compensation at PTAG varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience.
Your Work Environment
This role is based in Vancouver and will require frequent travel to the project site. As construction ramps up in 2027, the position will transition to a two-week-on, two-week-off rotational assignment at the site.
You will work in a hybrid setting combining office-based responsibilities with on-site engagement, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, EPCM partners, and contractors. The role requires adaptability to remote project conditions and flexibility during critical phases, which may include extended hours to meet key milestones.
