Querentia is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to lead new client acquisition across Canada, driving growth through direct enterprise relationships, systems integrator (SI) partnerships, and government/MSP procurement channels. This is a strategic, revenue-owning role for someone who thrives on opening doors, building trust with senior stakeholders, and converting relationships into signed, recurring staffing engagements.
The ideal candidate combines a genuine hunter's instinct for new business with the credibility and network to sell into large enterprises, Tier 1/2 consulting firms, and government-adjacent procurement programs. You will be a founding force behind Querentia's next phase of growth, working closely with the leadership team to expand our footprint beyond our current client base.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Identify, prospect, and close new enterprise clients across Querentia's core specialization areas: Software Development, SAP & Enterprise Applications, Data & Analytics, Cybersecurity & Risk, Cloud & Infrastructure, and AI & Emerging Technology.
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline of net-new logos, from initial outreach through contract signature.
- Develop and execute a structured go-to-market strategy targeting banking, insurance, utilities, telecom, and government-adjacent sectors.
Systems Integrator & Partnership Growth
- Cultivate and expand relationships with Tier 1/2 systems integrators and consulting firms (e.g., Deloitte, Capgemini, CGI, Accenture, IBM, Cognizant, EY, PwC, KPMG) to position Querentia as a preferred staff augmentation partner for their client delivery programs.
- Leverage and grow Querentia's existing track record (100+ successful placements with Deloitte) as a credibility asset in new SI conversations.
MSP, VMS & Government Channel Development
- Drive supplier registration and relationship-building with contingent workforce Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Vendor Management Systems (Randstad Sourceright, Allegis Global Solutions, Magnit, Procom, and others).
- Support and expand Querentia's presence in provincial and federal government procurement vehicles (e.g., Ontario and BC Flextrack VOR programs, federal TBIPS/SBIPS/ProServices), and emerging provincial opportunities).
- Own relationship management with existing MSP partners to identify and pursue new program opportunities beyond current engagements.
Account & Relationship Management
- Serve as a senior point of contact for key client relationships, ensuring long-term account health and repeat business.
- Conduct regular check-ins with hiring managers and client stakeholders post-placement to identify additional opportunities.
- Represent Querentia at industry events, association functions (e.g., ACSESS), and networking forums to build market visibility and generate referral pipeline.
Strategy & Reporting
- Develop and maintain a rolling revenue pipeline and forecast, reporting regularly on business development KPIs to leadership.
- Provide market intelligence on competitive positioning, client needs, and emerging opportunities across Querentia's specialization areas.
- Collaborate with recruitment and delivery teams to ensure new business commitments align with sourcing capacity and delivery quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of business development, sales, or client-facing account management experience within the IT staffing, recruitment, or professional services industry - this is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.
- Demonstrated track record of independently sourcing, pitching, and closing new enterprise-level staffing or consulting engagements.
- Existing network and credibility within systems integrators, enterprise IT departments, or government/MSP procurement channels in Canada.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian staffing industry landscape, including MSP/VMS structures (Fieldglass, Beeline, Flextrack, or similar platforms).
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and executive-level communication skills.
- Self-starter capable of operating with significant autonomy in a lean, founder-led organization.
- Based in or willing to work from the Greater Toronto Area, with flexibility for client travel across Canada as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with any of: Deloitte, Capgemini, CGI, Accenture, IBM, Cognizant, EEY, PwC, or KPMG.
- Prior experience selling into or navigating government procurement processes (provincial VOR programs, federal supply arrangements).
- Familiarity with Querentia's specialization areas: SAP, Data & Analytics, Cybersecurity, Cloud/DevOps, or AI/emerging technology talent markets.
- Experience working with or selling through contingent workforce MSPs.
- Membership or active involvement with industry associations such as ACSESS.
