The Vice President, Global Procurement & Supply Chain is a key member of Railveyor's Executive Leadership Team and will be responsible for developing and executing the company's global procurement, strategic sourcing, logistics and supply chain strategy.
This is a strategic leadership role with significant influence across the organization. The successful candidate will transform procurement and supply chain into a competitive advantage by establishing scalable processes, developing strategic supplier partnerships, improving supply chain resilience and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of equipment and materials for customer projects worldwide.
Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance and Sales, the Vice President will ensure procurement and supply chain strategies support project execution, customer commitments and Railveyor's long-term growth objectives.
Responsibilities
Executive Leadership
- Develop and execute Railveyor's global procurement and supply chain strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
- Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Build, develop and lead a high-performing procurement, logistics and supply chain organization.
- Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives for mechanical, electrical and engineered components.
- Establish long-term supplier partnerships that improve quality, cost, delivery and reliability.
- Lead complex commercial negotiations and execute strategic supply agreements.
- Identify dual-source and alternative supplier opportunities to reduce supply risk and supplier concentration.
- Develop and implement supplier performance management programs and KPIs.
- Partner with Engineering to identify opportunities for value engineering, standardization and design-for-manufacturing.
Global Supply Chain & Logistics
- Design and optimize global supply chain networks supporting North American and international projects.
- Lead domestic and international transportation, freight forwarding, customs compliance and logistics activities.
- Manage inbound and outbound shipments across multiple transportation modes.
- Ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials while optimizing transportation costs.
- Develop inventory strategies that balance working capital requirements with project schedules.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address transportation or supply chain delays.
- Develop supply chain risk management, contingency and business continuity plans.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Deliver measurable cost reductions through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and value engineering.
- Collaborate with Finance to improve working capital, payment terms and inventory performance.
- Support project estimating and commercial proposals through accurate supplier pricing and market intelligence.
- Develop procurement budgets and monitor performance against financial and operational targets.
- Provide executive-level visibility into procurement savings, risks, commitments and supplier performance.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Identify, qualify and develop strategic global suppliers.
- Lead supplier audits, business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Negotiate commercial agreements covering pricing, warranties, service levels, delivery commitments and long-term supply arrangements.
- Monitor supplier financial health and proactively identify and mitigate supply risks.
- Develop strong, collaborative supplier relationships while maintaining appropriate commercial discipline.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering to support product development, customization, standardization and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.
- Work closely with Operations to align procurement and supply chain activities with project schedules and customer commitments.
- Support Sales by providing commercial and supplier input during proposal development and contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with Finance on cash flow, working capital, inventory and commercial priorities.
- Establish clear communication and accountability across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales and external suppliers.
Process Improvement & Digital Transformation
- Develop scalable procurement policies, procedures, controls and governance.
- Implement and optimize procurement systems, supplier portals and performance dashboards.
- Utilize data analytics to improve forecasting, supplier performance and procurement efficiency.
- Drive automation and digital transformation across procurement and supply chain functions.
- Standardize supply chain processes, documentation and reporting.
- Establish metrics that improve customer service, inventory performance, supplier reliability and overall supply chain efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
- MBA or Master's degree is considered an asset.
- Professional designation such as SCMP, CPSM, CSCP or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive procurement and supply chain leadership experience.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
- Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, mining, rail, capital equipment or engineered products.
