Role Description The Service Technician/Gas Fitter is a full-time, on-site role based in Burnaby, BC, responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining boiler and burner systems in commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-unit residential settings. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics and repairs on gas-fired equipment and pressure systems, conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance, and supporting boiler retrofit projects as part of a field team. The technician will complete service reports, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate clearly with customers and the office team regarding work performed and recommended follow-up. The role also involves adhering to safety regulations and company procedures, using appropriate tools and test equipment, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with industry standards and codes.
Qualifications
- Must have a Class B ticket, Class A ticket preferred
- Technical skills in gasfitting, steamfitting, burner work, and boiler system troubleshooting.
- Experience with installation, service, and maintenance of gas-fired equipment, pressure vessels, and related mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, regulatory codes, and industry standards relevant to boilers and pressure systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and service documentation.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear terms.
- Solid organizational and time management skills to handle multiple service calls and prioritize tasks.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship in gasfitting, steamfitting, or a related mechanical field; Red Seal or equivalent is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for travel to customer sites.
- Comfort working on-site in varying conditions, including occasional overtime or after-hours emergency service.
- Previous experience in commercial or industrial HVAC, boiler, or mechanical service environments is considered an advantage.
