Role Description
This is a remote/hybrid role for an Applied AI Engineer at Ranger AI.
You will work directly with enterprise customers to understand their workflows, identify where AI can create value, and build solutions that move those workflows into production. You will work closely with Product, Forward Deployed Engineering, GTM, and our customers across discovery, solution design, implementation, testing, and deployment. The role requires strong technical ability, but also strong business judgment. You need to be comfortable speaking with customers, understanding how their business works, translating business problems into technical requirements, and building AI systems that are reliable enough for real enterprise use.
What You Will Do
- Build and improve LLM-powered workflows, agents, retrieval systems, and automation.
- Work with structured and unstructured enterprise data.
- Help develop RAG pipelines, prompting strategies, tool use, and structured outputs.
- Build integrations with APIs, databases, document pipelines, and enterprise systems.
- Work alongside senior engineers and Forward Deployed Engineers on customer deployments.
- Participate in customer discovery, testing, and implementation.
- Prototype new AI capabilities and help bring successful ideas into production.
- Evaluate model outputs, reliability, and failure cases.
- Debug and improve AI workflows based on customer feedback.
- Learn how to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
What We Are Looking For
- Recent or upcoming graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, AI/ML, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong TypeScript, Go skills
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, Generative AI, RAG, agents, embeddings, or related technologies through projects, internships, co-ops, research, or coursework.
- Experience working with APIs, databases, or backend systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly.
- Strong communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking with customers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Curious about how businesses operate and how technology can improve workflows.
- High level of ownership and willingness to take on unfamiliar problems.
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment.

Business & Customer Experience
We strongly value engineers who understand the business problem behind the technology.
You should be comfortable asking customers questions about how they work, why a process exists, where the bottlenecks are, and what success looks like.
A background in business, consulting, product, operations, entrepreneurship, or customer-facing technical work is highly valued.
Nice to Have
- Experience in business or finance
- Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Docker and production infrastructure.
- Experience building agentic systems with multiple tools or workflows.
Compensation
- $70,000–$95,000 CAD base depending on experience
