Position: Dentist
Start Date: November 2026
Scheduling: 3 days of availability, 24 hours/week; Tuesdays. Wednesdays, and Saturday preferred
Compensation: $130,636.23 to $289,982.93 per year. Associates compensated on a fee for service basis. Remuneration is 35%-38% of productions.

Position Summary
In collaboration with the dental team and other dentists, the dentist is responsible for the scope and quality of dental care provided at the clinic. These responsibilities include providing a broad range of dental treatments and emergency procedures. Referrals, educating patients about their oral health and oral health promotion activities are also key responsibilities. The dentist provides services to a very diverse group of patients of all ages including those with disabilities and behavioral problems. The dentist works cooperatively as part of the interdisciplinary team at REACH and committed to the goal of improving the oral health of people living in the community.
The dentist is accountable to the dental manager.
Responsibilities
- Obtains complete medical and dental history and verifies and applies medical history prior to treatment.
- Performs complete oral examinations, formulates comprehensive treatment plans, informs patients of treatment options and obtains consent for treatment.
- Performs recall exams and works in conjunction with hygiene team to ensure comprehensive oral health of patients on a regular basis.
- Performs a broad range of dental treatments such as restorations, crown and bridge, endodontic, periodontics, minor orthodontic, surgery and emergency treatment.
- Follows regulations and guidelines set by the CDSBC.
- Prescribes medications and administers local anesthetics.
- Orders and interprets x-rays.
- Supervises care provided by Certified Dental Assistants.
- Follows the CDSBC Infection Prevention and Control guide lines.
- Charts in accordance with the clinic’s dental charting guidelines and the standards as set by College of Dental Surgeons.
- Documents all conversation with patients related to treatment and/or concerns, in order to facilitate proper follow up, and always signs their name after any notes.
- Works with Dental Manager to ensure effective teamwork and efficient flow of patients.
- Provides input in to the development of policies and ensures implementation of policies and procedures in the clinic.
- Informs the clinic’s management of any issues regarding health and safety or that may otherwise jeopardize patient care or put the clinic in a libelous position.
- Mentors dental students from universities and colleges.
- Provides oversight for the hygiene team.
- Promotes the principles of team work and actively participates as a team member.
- Keeps the clinic’s management up to date and informed on any changes to best practice guidelines as determined by the College of Dental Surgeons.
- Provides information to clinic’s management relevant for funding proposals and grant applications.
- Makes referrals to specialists and other dental clinics.
Contribution to team and centre activities
- Participates actively in staff meetings and board committees.
- Participates in the overall activities of the health centre, e.g. in service training, committees, special events and shared staff responsibilities.
- Communicates clearly, listens accurately, is open to feedback, handles conflict appropriately, and displays sensitivity to others.

Qualifications
- Is registered and has a current license with the BCCOHP
- At least three years of recent and extensive experience in a large dental practice.
- Experience working in a community dental clinic or in a public health environment an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with patients and staff in a community clinic.
- Demonstrated technical, administrative and interpersonal skills.
- Familiar and comfortable with working in a values based organization an asset.
- Supervisory or leadership experiences an asset.
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
