Our client is seeking an Import Export Specialist to coordinate domestic and international shipments while ensuring the efficient movement of goods across global supply chains. Working closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, warehouses, and internal teams, this role plays a key part in supporting import/export operations, customs compliance, and transportation logistics. The ideal candidate will bring strong logistics experience, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments across ocean, air, truck, and intermodal transportation
- Work closely with customs brokers and logistics partners to support timely customs clearance
- Manage container movements, drayage activities, and freight transfers between ports, terminals, warehouses, and customer locations
- Prepare and maintain import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin
- Coordinate freight-related costs, duties, taxes, and transportation charges
- Support warehouse and freight consolidation activities to ensure efficient shipment execution
- Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, customs issues, carrier claims, and other transportation challenges
- Manage customs account activities and ensure compliance with applicable trade and transportation regulations
- Build strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes and overall supply chain efficiency
Your strengths include:
- 2+ years of experience in import/export, logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or supply chain operations
- Experience coordinating international shipments and containerized freight
- Strong understanding of customs clearance processes, shipping documentation, and Incoterms
- Familiarity with port operations, drayage, container logistics, and related transportation activities
- Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, and trucking companies
- Knowledge of dangerous goods regulations, including TDG, DOT, IMDG, or IATA, considered an asset
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics, shipping, or ERP systems
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Experience within chemical, industrial, or regulated transportation environments considered an asset
