Basic Functions
The Part-Time Shop Assistant supports the Shop Manager and Operations Team by assisting with general shop housekeeping, organization, inventory management, equipment cleaning, and yard maintenance activities. This entry-level position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an industrial environment while contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the shop and yard.
Position Requirements
- A valid Class 5 or Class 7 Driver's License is considered an asset.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of lifting Part-Timeto 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Good organizational and housekeeping skills.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- No prior industry experience required; training will be provided.
Top Five Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, yard, and storage areas.
- Assist with cleaning, organizing, and preparing equipment and tools.
- Receive and organize materials, supplies, and inventory.
- Support shop personnel with general labour and administrative tasks.
- Promote and follow all company health and safety requirements.
Duties
- Sweep, clean, and maintain shop and office common areas.
- Assist with yard organization and material storage.
- Clean tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Help load and unload materials under supervision.
- Organize inventory, parts, and consumables.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking shelves.
- Perform parts pickups and errands when authorized.
- Dispose of waste and recyclable materials appropriately.
- Assist with seasonal yard maintenance, including snow removal and site cleanup.
- Support technicians and shop personnel with non-technical tasks.
- Attend safety meetings and training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager.
