Hiring: Senior IT Administrator (On-site, Contract)

Description:
Reporting to the Technical Director, the IT Administrator is responsible for effective provision, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure as well as to provide first level support for business applications in ensuring IT operations are running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain installation, operational, and configuration procedures for the Media & Entertainment industry
- Deploy and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure (servers, workstations, VMs, switches, firewalls), and configure hardware, network services, and storages to align with operational standards.
- Maintain and optimize system standards to ensure security, high performance, and business continuity using centralized IT tools.
- Conduct daily system monitoring to ensure hardware availability, review application logs, and verify the seamless execution of scheduled jobs using centralized SIEM platforms.
- Collaborate with the Technical Director to develop and enforce comprehensive security standards across IT infrastructure (data, storage, networks) and physical systems (access controls, surveillance), successfully facilitating annual and biennial security audits.
- Collaborate with Redlab producers and execute the setup of secure file transfer systems and shared services.
- Assist the Post Facilities Manager in conducting regular security monitoring to detect potential intrusions.
- Execute daily IT backup operations to ensure all critical system data is securely backed up, create recovery disks, and manage off-site media rotation.
- Perform system software maintenance and apply OS patches locally or via MDM. Upgrade administrative tools and configure or deploy new services according to standard IT procedures.
- Manage and configure remote work environments (Parsec, Teradici) and integrate secure access via SSO and cloud authentication.
- Provide first level IT hardware and software support per request from various users – investigate, troubleshoot, repair and recover; create, change and delete user accounts per request
- Perform day-end process and ensure reports delivery to management on a timely basis
- Perform any other duties assigned by the management
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in installation and configuration of active directory, firewalls (Including VPN), and network switches (fibre and ethernet)
- 3+ years of experience administering and troubleshooting Linux, Mac, and Windows operating systems, as well as virtualized environments (VMs).
- 2+ years of experience in NAS protocols and storages (SAN experience could be plus as well)
- 2+ years of experience of configuring and managing Google G-Suite, MS Office 365, Adobe CC, etc.
- 2+ years of experience managing and deploying network monitoring tools, SIEM platforms, SSO, and MDM solutions.
- Proficiency in administering high-speed file transfer and sharing platforms (such as Aspera and Media Shuttle) is a strong asset.
- Proficient in network strategy and infrastructure design across copper and fibre-optic networks.
- Proficient in SQL database management and configuring automated data backups to network, cloud, and LTO storage solutions.
- Administered cloud infrastructure and storage solutions (AWS, Wasabi, Google Drive, Dropbox) and configured secure user access via Single Sign-On (SSO) and modern authentication protocols.
- Proficient in Linux and macOS system administration, encompassing hardware configuration, database management, network operations, and enterprise software (VMware, Office 365)
- Strong communication skills paired with a systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Service oriented with good interpersonal and customer relations skills
- Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and responsiveness in completing tasks
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business administration or commerce is preferred
- Able to work from the downtown Toronto office 5 days a week (Core working hours: 10am – 4pm)
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
- Possibility of full-time role based on performance
