Redstone Commodity Search are working with an established international agricultural commodities trading firm seeking to appoint a Senior Physical Grains Trader to its Montreal operation.
This opportunity is suited to an experienced physical agricultural trader with a strong background in B2B grain trading, an established commercial network, and a demonstrable track record of originating, negotiating, and executing profitable physical commodity transactions.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for developing and managing trading relationships across North American and international agricultural markets, with a particular focus on expanding physical grain flows and identifying new commercial opportunities.
The Role
- Originate, negotiate, and execute physical grain transactions across domestic and international B2B markets.
- Develop and manage trading activity across products including wheat, corn, barley, oats, and other relevant grains.
- Build and maintain relationships with grain producers, elevators, processors, exporters, merchants, and industrial end-users.
- Identify profitable trading opportunities through market analysis, regional supply and demand dynamics, and price movements.
- Manage physical trading positions, pricing exposure, contract negotiations, and overall book profitability.
- Develop new commercial relationships across Canada, the United States, and international export markets.
- Coordinate with logistics, operations, finance, and risk teams to ensure efficient execution of physical transactions.
- Negotiate commercial terms, delivery schedules, freight arrangements, and supply agreements.
- Contribute to the continued development and expansion of the firm's physical agricultural trading activities.
Key Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience within physical grains or agricultural commodity trading.
- Proven track record of generating profitable physical trading business within a B2B environment.
- Strong understanding of North American grain markets, particularly Canadian and US supply chains.
- Established network of commercial counterparties including grain merchants, producers, processors, exporters, and end-users.
- Experience trading products such as wheat, corn, barley, oats, or other bulk agricultural commodities.
- Strong knowledge of physical logistics, freight, storage, contract execution, and commodity risk management.
- Demonstrable ability to independently originate and manage commercial trading relationships.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a commercially driven approach to business development.
- Fluency in English is essential; French language capabilities would be advantageous given the Montreal location.

Compensation
