Lead Strategic IT Infrastructure Initiatives with Innovation and Impact!
The Supervisor, Infrastructure Projects & Initiatives is responsible for managing the staff and all activities as they relate to the implementation and/or upgrade of on premise and cloud-based components within the Region's technology infrastructure, including network servers, switches, closet electronics, telephony, fibre optics network and cloud technologies. This includes directing staff as required, establishing and monitoring operational procedures and standards, and establishing and monitoring service levels.
In this impactful role, you'll:
- Contributes to the creation of the IT Service Delivery Section annual plan; Plans and set operational objectives for the team to meet the Infrastructure Services Team requirements ensuring alignment with the IT Service Delivery Section plans and objectives.
- Plans, recommends, organizes and coordinates the provision of IT infrastructure to ensure high availability of voice and data network for all regional employees and facilities
- Develops, recommends, documents, implements and maintains processes and effective service standards based on client requirements, to ensure that effective IT infrastructure services are consistently delivered to clients.
- Researches, evaluates, recommends, tests and implements changes/enhancements to technology infrastructure
- Initiates and participates actively in the purchasing processes with the IT Service Delivery Section for the acquisition of infrastructure hardware and software
- Ensures new client facilities are built to meet client needs for fibre network, telephone systems and network connectivity
- Provisions the infrastructure required for business applications
- Provides leadership in recommending future direction for IT infrastructure technology and services.
- Provides performance, reliability and life-cycle management for IT infrastructure technology and services
- Actively contributes to the creation of the IT Service Delivery Section’s annual plan.
- Integrates the IT Service Delivery’s annual plan into the Infrastructure Services annual operational plan
- Actively participates in the disaster recovery planning and testing (led by Systems Services)
- Manages capacity for data centre physical environment (e.g. cooling, power, UPS)
- Builds and maintains a highly effective team for service delivery and problem resolution by supervising, motivating, mentoring, and coaching staff
- Provides technical leadership and administrative support to the team by remaining current with advancements used in technology industry
- Identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Section and/or Division
- Develops the annual budget for the team and ensures that the team’s expenditures and revenues are controlled and
- maintained within approved budget limitations
- Supplements the team, when needed, by engaging external resources and ensures alignment with service contract
- Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, including other IT Operation staff and departmental staff, contributing requirements and costs to IT project plans, operating plans, implementation plans, and ongoing support of IT services delivery
- Receives requests for project resources from their Manager and works in partnership with Client Relationship Managers and Project Managers to ensure appropriate resources are assigned to projects
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports on team’s activities, monitors team performance and reports on service effectiveness
- Ensures that the team has the depth and breadth of competency to meet current and projected demands
- Monitors and researches the technology industry for trends or best practices and recommend changes as appropriate
- Maintains active involvement in related professional associations, and related professional development organizations and conferences
What the role requires:
- Minimum of Post-secondary diploma in Computer Science or a related technology field with five years prior experience with emphasis on IT infrastructure and leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of networking systems, protocols, and standards, including fibre design practices and standards
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022/2025, Linux 8.x, Office 365, ESXi 7/8.x, Avaya Communication Manager, Cisco, HPE Back Up & Storage Technology and MS Azure Cloud Technology
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of Data Centre facilities management best practices
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations, policies and practices as well as standards, regulations and safety acts as they apply to outside plant (PSN)
- Progressive technical knowledge and knowledge of best practices in Information Technology service delivery such as SDLC, PMBOK, COBIT and ITIL;
- Demonstrated ability to lead Infrastructure Services team members to deliver to project schedule on time and with quality
- Demonstrated management competencies including results achievement, human resources management, leadership, decision making, collaboration, coaching, mentoring, flexibility, professionalism and job knowledge
- Excellent customer service skills and orientation, including the demonstrated ability to work constructively and flexibly with client groups
- Proven track record of establishing productive relationships with business partners, customers and staff
- Proven organizational, multi-tasking, time management, planning and project management skills to organize resources and manage priorities in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
- Excellent communication skills to work with clients, technical team, management and executive level staff in order to communicate technological principles and information in an audience-friendly manner
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and issue resolution skills in situations where the problem maybe be technical, managerial or interpersonal
- Understanding of financial management, capital budgeting, business planning and purchasing / contract management processes

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection.
