Reimer Associates is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, high-volume retailer for a Transportation Manager to lead daily Transportation operations across an assigned region. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced transportation or distribution professional who can balance service, safety, productivity, staffing, and team development in a fast-paced operating environment.
Reporting to a senior regional operations leader, the Transportation Manager will oversee Transportation teams and supervisors while ensuring routes are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
The successful candidate will play a central role in:
- Leading, coaching, and developing Transportation supervisors and frontline teammates
- Managing daily Transportation execution, route completion, service levels, and performance
- Monitoring KPIs, productivity, error rates, and other performance indicators
- Reviewing projected volumes, staffing requirements, schedules, and time and attendance
- Supporting daily team huddles, training, coaching, feedback, and performance reviews
- Maintaining a strong culture of safety, compliance, accountability, and customer service
- Addressing operational challenges and escalating issues when appropriate
- Coordinating vehicle and equipment maintenance, tracking, repairs, and replacement needs
- Protecting company assets, cargo, vehicles, and Transportation areas
- Supporting continuous-improvement initiatives across the Transportation operation
The ideal candidate is an experienced transportation, Transportation, fleet, or distribution leader with a proven ability to manage teams and maintain high operating standards.
You will bring:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in Transportation, fleet, or distribution operations
- At least five years of people-management or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of routing, scheduling, Transportation execution, and best practices
- Experience leading supervisors and frontline operational teams
- The ability to interpret productivity reports, service metrics, KPIs, and error trends
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
- A practical understanding of transportation safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication, coaching, and team-development capabilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
A high school diploma or GED is required. Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related discipline is considered an asset. Additional training or certifications related to transportation, safety, fleet operations, WHMIS, dangerous goods, or leadership would also be beneficial.
