Senior Project Manager – Institutional Construction

The Opportunity
Our client, a leading Canadian general contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale, ground-up institutional projects valued at over $100 million.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven construction professional to take ownership of complex, high-profile projects while working alongside an established leadership team and respected industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead institutional construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts and overall financial performance.
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, forecasts and cost reports.
- Oversee procurement, tendering, contract negotiations and change management.
- Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Chair project meetings and provide clear reporting to clients and senior leadership.
- Ensure all work complies with contractual requirements, building codes and company standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and trade partners.
- Support and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Coordinators.
- Work closely with site leadership to maintain quality, safety and schedule expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8–10 years of construction project management experience.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale, ground-up institutional or ICI projects.
- Experience managing projects valued at $100 million or more is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, scheduling and cost management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.
- PMP, P.Eng. or Gold Seal certification is considered an asset.
- Experience with healthcare, education, government or other complex institutional projects is highly desirable.
