RIMEX develops industry-leading wheel, tire, and monitoring solutions for mining and industrial applications worldwide. We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Electronics Technologist to join our Research & Development team in Victoria, BC.
As a member of the R&D team, you will participate in the development, testing, validation, certification, and continuous improvement of electronic products used in demanding industrial and mining environments. You will work closely with engineers, production personnel, and external partners to bring new products from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve test fixtures and apparatus for pressure, temperature, RF, environmental, and product validation testing.
- Program and operate environmental test chambers and laboratory equipment.
- Perform product verification, validation, troubleshooting, and help with root cause analysis.
- Support firmware verification and validation activities.
- Perform testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.
- Support RF communication testing and analysis.
- Support preparation of products, test samples, and documentation for certification and regulatory testing.
- Create and maintain test procedures, validation reports, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Maintain engineering documentation and revision control using Git and related tools.
- Support manufacturing through the development of production fixtures, test systems, tooling, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- 3 to 7 years of relevant industry experience in electronics, instrumentation, product development, manufacturing, or industrial equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong electronics troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- High-reliability soldering of fine-pitch components.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills.
- Experience building prototypes, fixtures, and test equipment.
- Knowledge of environmental testing and operation of temperature chambers.
- Understanding of RF communications and wireless systems.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and other laboratory equipment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Technical writing, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Familiarity with Git or other revision control systems.
- Comfortable using AI tools to support technical work.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
