RMH Solutions is currently hiring one full-time Crane Service Technician to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario.
We are looking for a technically skilled, dependable individual with a strong electrical, mechanical, or engineering background who enjoys troubleshooting industrial equipment, working hands-on, and interacting directly with customers.
Previous experience with overhead cranes and hoists is strongly preferred; however, candidates with a strong skilled-trade or engineering background and the ability to learn crane and hoist systems are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, troubleshoot, and repair overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment
- Install overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling systems
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical problems and complete required repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
- Work at customer facilities throughout the region
- Complete inspection forms, service reports, and technical documentation
- Work at elevated heights using scissor lifts, boom lifts, man cages, scaffolding, and ladders
- Operate company service vehicles and safely tow trailers when required
- Perform occasional fabrication, assembly, and repair work in the RMH Solutions shop
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, repairs, and service requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a strong technical background demonstrated through at least one of the following:
- A recognized/certified skilled trade with an electrical or mechanical background, such as Industrial Electrician, Construction & Maintenance Electrician, Millwright, or a related trade; OR
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering in any engineering discipline.
All applicants must also:
- Currently reside in Canada
- Hold a valid driver's licence with a good driving record
- Be fluent in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
- Have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Be willing and able to perform hands-on mechanical and electrical work
- Be comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments
- Be able to accurately complete service reports and inspection documentation
- Have basic computer skills
- Be able to safely operate a service vehicle and tow a trailer when required
- Maintain a professional attitude and provide excellent customer service
Preferred Experience
The following experience is considered an asset:
- 3+ years of overhead crane and hoist service, inspection, or repair experience
- Industrial electrical troubleshooting
- Mechanical equipment repair
- Motors, brakes, controls, contactors, limit switches, and related crane components
- Welding and fabrication
- Material handling equipment installation
- Reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Training & Certifications
Experience or certification in the following areas is considered an asset:
- Crane and hoist inspection and repair
- Forklift operation
- WHMIS
- Lockout/Tagout
- Working at Heights
- Elevated work platforms / manlift operation
Additional crane and hoist training may be provided based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
Working Hours
This is a full-time, primarily Monday-to-Friday day-shift position, with a typical start time of approximately 7:30 AM.
Technicians must be willing to stay later when required to complete customer work. Occasional Saturday, weekend, after-hours, and emergency service work may also be required and will be shared among the service team.
