Senior Product Owner/Scrum Master – Digital & Streaming Platforms
Location: Canada or US
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Senior
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Owner/Scrum Master to lead the ongoing delivery and evolution of a large-scale digital and streaming platform.
This is a highly visible, client-facing role requiring strong technical fluency, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle. The Senior Project Manager will work across product, design, engineering, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to ensure teams remain aligned, risks are surfaced early, and commitments are delivered successfully.
The development team is distributed across geographies and time zones, making proactive communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through especially important.
The ideal candidate brings strong software delivery experience, understands modern digital and streaming platforms, and is comfortable working with a mission-driven, faith-based organization and faith-based content.
Responsibilities
· Own end-to-end project delivery across the full software development lifecycle, including discovery, requirements, design, development, QA, release, and post-launch support.
· Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and release planning.
· Manage project scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, resource needs, and overall delivery health.
· Serve as a primary point of coordination across client stakeholders and distributed product, engineering, design, QA, and DevOps teams.
· Maintain clear, proactive communication with stakeholders, particularly around risks, dependencies, changes, decisions, and potential impacts to delivery.
· Anticipate issues and escalate appropriately rather than waiting for problems to affect timelines or client expectations.
· Translate technical topics, tradeoffs, dependencies, and risks into clear language for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Establish clear ownership, accountability, and next steps across geographically dispersed teams.
· Maintain exceptional project hygiene in Jira, ensuring epics, stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies, sprint commitments, releases, and reporting accurately reflect the state of delivery.
· Track and communicate sprint health, velocity, capacity, defects, risks, dependencies, and other key delivery metrics and run continuous improvement through retros and process changes.
· Partner closely with technical leadership to understand architecture, integrations, environments, releases, and engineering dependencies.
· Support the responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools and workflows across software engineering, QA, testing, documentation, and delivery processes.
· Help identify opportunities to improve engineering velocity and quality through automation, AI-assisted development and testing, and more efficient delivery practices.
· Drive continuous improvement across Agile processes, communication, documentation, and team effectiveness.
· Provide concise, transparent executive and client-facing status reporting with clear recommendations and proposed solutions.
Required Qualifications
· 8+ years of project, program, or software delivery management experience, with significant experience leading complex software development initiatives.
· Active Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification required with at least 5 years as a ScrumMaster and/or Product Owner.
· A track record of shipping consumer-facing digital products: mobile apps, streaming/OTT/CTV or web.
· Expert-level proficiency with Jira, including backlog management, workflows, dashboards, reporting, sprint management, dependency tracking, and release planning.
· Fluency with Jira, Confluence and product analytics tools (PostHog, Tableau or similar).
· Strong understanding of the complete software development lifecycle and modern Agile software delivery practices.
· Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional and geographically distributed software development teams.
· Strong technical fluency across web and mobile applications, APIs, integrations, cloud environments, CMS platforms, QA/testing, DevOps, CI/CD, and production releases.
· Experience managing complex dependencies across product, engineering, QA, design, and business teams.
· Responsibility for coordinating defect triage, production incidents, hotfixes, and post-release follow-through with engineering and QA.
· Strong client-facing experience and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate proactively and clearly across teams and time zones.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
· Ability to identify risks early, drive decisions, resolve blockers, and bring proposed solutions forward.
· Comfort working with a faith-based organization and supporting products and content rooted in its mission and values.
· Must be based in Canada or US and authorized to work in that country.
Preferred Qualifications
· Certifications: CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner), PSM (Professional Scrum Master)
· Experience delivering OTT, streaming, media, entertainment, or direct-to-consumer digital platforms.
· Experience with iOS, Android, connected TV, and web-based streaming applications.
· Experience with CMS platforms, cloud infrastructure, authentication, APIs, video technology, and other components of modern streaming ecosystems.
· Experience working in a consulting, digital product, or professional services environment.
· Hands-on familiarity with AI-enabled software development and QA tools, including AI-assisted coding, automated testing, test case generation, defect analysis, documentation, or similar engineering workflows.
· Experience coordinating blended onshore/offshore engineering teams across multiple time zones.
What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate brings structure, visibility, and accountability to a complex software delivery environment without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
They are technically fluent enough to engage meaningfully with engineering and QA teams, ask the right questions, understand dependencies, and recognize risk early. They communicate proactively rather than reactively and ensure stakeholders are never surprised by an issue that could have been surfaced sooner.
They understand that excellent project management goes beyond running ceremonies and maintaining Jira. They create clarity across a distributed team, drive decisions and accountability, look for opportunities to improve how the team works, and bring a strong sense of ownership to the success of the client platform and partnership.
