Role Description The User Interface Designer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Saskatoon, SK, with flexibility for some work from home. In this role, the designer creates intuitive, visually engaging user interfaces for web and application projects, working closely with product owners, developers, and other designers. Day-to-day tasks include translating requirements into wireframes and high-fidelity mockups, refining visual design systems, and collaborating on UX decisions to ensure interfaces are accessible and easy to use. The designer will support front-end implementation by preparing design assets, documenting interaction patterns, and providing feedback during development and testing. This role also involves iterating on designs based on user feedback, analytics, and stakeholder input.
Qualifications
- Strong user interface design skills, including layout, typography, color, and design systems.
- Experience with visual design and creating detailed mockups using modern design tools.
- Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and the ability to collaborate on user flows and interaction design.
- Working knowledge of front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript) to support design handoff and feasibility discussions.
- Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design software.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Saskatoon, SK, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present and justify design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Post-secondary education in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing for responsive web, mobile, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) is an asset.
