Our client, a well-established and highly respected Canadian law firm with a strong reputation, is seeking an experienced Litigation Law Clerk to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Review and organize client documents
- Prepare affidavits of documents and disclosure briefs
- Prepare agreements and other legal documents using established precedents
- Prepare hearing materials for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Court of Appeal for Ontario, Supreme Court of Canada, and quasi-judicial forums
- Prepare document briefs and compendiums for trial
- Prepare lawyers and clients for examinations and hearings
- Schedule discoveries and prepare Notices of Examination
- Review transcripts and identify relevant information
- Prepare undertakings, refusals, and answers to undertakings
- Coordinate witnesses and assist with witness preparation
- Conduct witness interviews
- Prepare witness statements and witness briefs
- Prepare and serve summonses
- Attend hearings with counsel and clients
- Prepare Bills of Costs and Costs Outlines
- Prepare Default Judgment Orders
- Prepare chronologies and summaries of documentary evidence
Requirements
- Law Clerk or Paralegal designation
- 3+ years of relevant litigation experience
- Strong knowledge of litigation terminology, procedures, and processes
- Estates and/or regulatory law experience is considered an asset
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 and legal software
- Strong eDiscovery knowledge; experience with Everlaw is considered an asset
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
Compensation
- Salary of up to $100,000, commensurate with experience
- Hybrid work environment - 3 days per week in the office
- Opportunity to work on sophisticated and varied litigation matters
