We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who holds a CPA designation, is actively working toward obtaining their CPA designation, or has relevant experience, and wants to build a rewarding career in public accounting.
As a CPA Ontario certified training office, we are committed to supporting CPA candidates throughout their professional development. You will have the opportunity to gain practical experience across a variety of engagements while working alongside experienced and supportive accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare compilation, review, and other year-end engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Assist with audits and other assurance engagements.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting working papers.
- Prepare corporate tax returns.
- Perform account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and general ledger analysis.
- Identify accounting and tax issues and communicate recommendations to senior team members.
- Assist clients with bookkeeping, accounting, and financial reporting requirements.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting-related questions.
- Develop an understanding of clients' businesses and provide value-added accounting and tax advice.
- Manage multiple engagements while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and client service.
- Stay current with changes to accounting standards, tax legislation, and professional requirements.
Qualifications
- CPA designation, actively working toward a CPA designation, or relevant experience.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with Canadian personal and corporate tax preparation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Software Experience
Experience with the following software is highly desirable:
- Caseware – preparation of working papers and financial statements.
- CCH iFirm – practice management, document management, and workflow.
- Taxprep – preparation of personal and corporate tax returns.
- Experience with other accounting, tax, and practice-management software is also an asset.
