Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medical Surgical (Medsurg)
Position Summary:
Russell Tobin is seeking experienced and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for Medical-Surgical units across British Columbia. This opportunity offers the chance to work in acute-care hospital settings, providing safe, comprehensive, and patient-centered nursing care while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered nursing care to patients in Medical-Surgical units.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
- Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and treatment responses, and report significant changes to the appropriate healthcare team.
- Assist with wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and other clinical procedures within LPN scope of practice.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, medications, and progress.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, care plans, and discharge instructions.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid LPN license in British Columbia.
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Previous experience in Medical-Surgical or acute-care hospital settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of patient assessment, medication administration, and clinical nursing procedures.
- Experience with wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and other relevant bedside nursing skills.
- Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately within LPN scope of practice.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
