Position Summary
Russell Tobin is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN) for a Psychiatry assignment in Terrace, British Columbia. This role involves providing safe, patient-centered mental health care in a psychiatric setting while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct psychiatric nursing care and patient monitoring.
- Conduct Mental Status Examinations (MSEs) and patient assessments.
- Assess and manage suicide, self-harm, and violence risks.
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patient responses.
- Apply Mental Health Act guidelines and patient rights standards.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies, including Code White situations.
- Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, and healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and care records.
Qualifications
- Active RN or RPN registration with BCCNM.
- Minimum 1 year of recent psychiatric, mental health, or acute care nursing experience.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act, capacity assessments, and involuntary admissions.
- Experience conducting Mental Status Examinations (MSEs).
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications, therapeutic monitoring, and medication administration.
- Experience with risk assessment, crisis intervention, and behavioral management.
- PVPC Training and current Code White training preferred.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
