Job Summary:
As a Machinist Level I or II (Days/Afternoons), you will support machining operations by performing basic machine setup tasks, assisting Machinist, and safely operating CNC mills under supervision. Successful candidates will accurately measure machined parts from engineering blueprints, operate at least two types of machining equipment, identify all quality issues, and support training and
continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to company and legislative safety standards.
Job Duties
- Accurately measure machined parts using blueprint dimensions and tolerances
- Perform job set-ups independently on CNC equipment
- Proficient and safe operation of two of CNC mill, CNC lathe, laser cutter, rolling machine, saws as well as all company and legislative health and safety requirements
- Produce parts according to work instructions and specifications
- Identify and adjust machine offsets as required to maintain part accuracy
- Train others on coolant use and maintenance (basic training)
- Accurately use advanced precision tools such as Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Combination Square, and Height Gauge
- Assist with training others on proper deburring techniques
- Identify all quality issues on machined parts and obtain assistance from the Team Lead/Supervisor as needed
- Read G-code and perform minor adjustments
- Provide suggestions and improvement ideas for 6S programs
- Support machine operation personnel as directed by the Machining Supervisor
- Comply with all applicable OHSA, ESA and other provincial regulatory laws, as well as company safety policies
- Any other duties as assigned by the Machining Supervisor or Senior Leadership team
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-year degree in machining, preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in CNC machining or setting
- Knowledge of G & M Codes
- Ability to safely operate at least two types of equipment (mill, lathe, saw, laser cutter, rolling machine)
- Must be able to work in a Team environment
- Able to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Experience with HAAS CNC mills is an asset
- Ability to machine all types of materials (steel, aluminum, stainless and plastics) is an asset but not required for Level 1
- Ability to use advanced tools: Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge
- Ability to accurately measure and verify part tolerances from engineering drawings, blueprints dimension/tolerance, charts and tables
- Must be detail oriented and ability to identify all quality defects
- Must have good communication skills
- Must have good math skills
- Ability to work assigned hours plus overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, bending, and reaching as required
Hourly Range
$22.00 to 25.00 - hourly based on experience. (
Afternoon shift have 1$ shift premium)
This is a fixed-term contract position with an anticipated end date in December 2026.
This role represents a new opening within our CNC team.
