Role Description The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Winnipeg, MB. The designer will create detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and layouts to support Tool & Die, machining, fabrication, and precision component projects. Daily tasks include interpreting engineering requirements, collaborating with engineers, machinists, and fabrication staff, and updating drawings based on feedback and project changes. The role involves preparing accurate documentation for manufacturing, ensuring designs meet functional, tolerance, and safety requirements, and maintaining organized digital files and drawing standards. The CAD Designer will also participate in design reviews, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help troubleshoot design-related production issues.
Qualifications
- Strong technical drawing and general drawing skills for precision manufacturing applications
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and workflows for 2D and 3D design
- Experience creating and interpreting drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication details
- Knowledge of design engineering principles, tolerances, and materials relevant to Tool & Die and machining
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work from specifications, sketches, and customer requirements
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineering, production, and quality teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project needs in a manufacturing environment
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience is preferred
- Experience in precision machining, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing
