POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Research Associate will assist members of the Investment Team in conducting research and analysis on mid-market business acquisitions and real estate investment opportunities. The role provides exposure to a broad range of responsibilities, including due diligence, valuation analysis, market research and the preparation of presentations and materials for internal and external stakeholders.
While the Research Associate will work closely with senior team members and receive guidance throughout their development, they will also be entrusted with significant independence to take ownership of projects and determine how best to approach analytical and research tasks. Through this combination of mentorship and responsibility, the role is designed to be developmental, with candidates expected to progress to an Analyst position upon demonstrating consistent, exemplary performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Multifunction Research Support
§ Synthesize market information to be used in valuation, appraisals, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications
§ Compile and analyze relevant company and industry information, from a broad range of sources such as financial databases, industry publications, financial statements and public disclosures
§ Provide feedback on investment hypotheses while continuously reviewing industry trends
§ Maintain and update deal flow database
§ Prepare presentations and materials for various internal and external stakeholders
Investment Due Diligence and Valuation
§ Support the investment team to perform deep dive research, analysis and comprehensive due diligence on investment opportunities
§ Assist in developing and maintaining complex financial models, integrating historical and forecast financial statements, multi-tranche capital structures, exit valuations, return metrics, and sensitivity analysis
§ Perform valuation analysis, including precedent transaction, comparable company, and DCF analysis

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
§ Undergraduate degree in commerce, business, economics, finance, or a related field
§ 0 – 2 years of related work experience
§ Strong interest in investments and a genuine curiosity about business
§ Willingness to pursue or actively working towards a CFA designation
§ Strong research, project management, financial modeling, analytical and valuation skills
§ Well-developed written communication skills, able to synthesize information into structured materials
§ Ability to systematically manage a challenging workload and meet stringent deadlines
§ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
§ Desire to work in a team environment
§ Ability to work full-time from our Vancouver office
§ Legally qualified to work in Canada
SALARY RANGE
$60,000 to $70,000 annually and a performance-based bonus
