SANSOM EQUIPMENT LIMITED has been a leading distributor and service provider for pumps, generators, blowers, valves, VFDs and packaged engineered systems for industrial and municipal applications across Eastern Canada since 1964.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Generator Technician to join our service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of diesel and natural gas-powered generator systems. This position requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on standby and prime power generator systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues.
- Conduct load bank testing and generator performance evaluations.
- Install, commission, and start up new generator equipment.
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches (ATS) and associated control systems.
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Respond to emergency service calls and provide after-hours support as required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment condition, repair recommendations, and maintenance schedules.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and diagnostic equipment in good working order.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson certification in Electrical, Industrial Mechanical (Millwright), Heavy Equipment, or a related trade, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, engines, and control circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
