Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Occupational Therapist role based in Russell, ON. The Occupational Therapist will provide assessment and intervention for children and families, focusing on functional skills such as self-care, sensory processing, fine and gross motor development, and participation in daily activities at home, school, and in the community. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting comprehensive pediatric OT evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, delivering one-on-one and small-group therapy sessions, and collaborating closely with caregivers to create practical home and community strategies. The role also involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team, documenting progress, participating in case conferences, and contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming clinical environment.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Occupational Therapy, including assessment, intervention planning, and evidence-informed practice.
- Knowledge of Pediatrics, with experience supporting children with diverse developmental profiles and neurodiverse needs.
- Understanding of Rehabilitation principles, including functional goal setting, progress monitoring, and family-centered care.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear documentation, collaborative work with families and colleagues, and education for caregivers.
- Familiarity with Medicine-related concepts relevant to pediatric OT, such as developmental milestones and common pediatric conditions.
- Relevant university degree in Occupational Therapy and current professional registration/licensure (or eligibility) in the applicable regulatory body.
- Experience in a pediatric or family-focused clinical setting is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and maintain a trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally sensitive practice.
