TITLE: Computer Vision Engineer
INDUSTRY: Artificial Intelligence / Technology
LOCATION: Mississauga, ON - Hybrid (1 day per week in office)
SALARY: Up to $250K base
About You:
- You’re a highly technical Computer Vision Engineer who wants to solve complex, real-world problems-not simply fine-tune existing models.
- You thrive in zero-to-one environments where you can experiment, architect, build, and own AI systems from concept through production.
- You’re excited by the convergence of computer vision, multimodal AI, foundation models, agentic systems, and the next generation of intelligent software.
About Our Client:
- Our client is an innovative well-funded start-up company investing heavily in advanced AI and building intelligent products designed to solve complex, real-world challenges.
- This is an opportunity to join during a critical stage of AI development, with meaningful influence over architecture, tooling, technical direction, and how new AI capabilities are brought into production.
- You’ll work alongside a highly technical team where experimentation is encouraged, strong engineering fundamentals matter, and engineers have genuine ownership over what they build.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and productionize advanced computer vision and multimodal AI systems.
- Build end-to-end pipelines spanning data ingestion, preprocessing, model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Explore modern approaches across image/video understanding, detection, segmentation, classification, representation learning, and multimodal reasoning.
- Work with modern foundation models, vision-language models (VLMs), LLMs, and emerging multimodal architectures where applicable.
- Develop zero-to-one AI capabilities and rapidly move promising concepts from experimentation into scalable production systems.
- Explore agentic AI patterns, MCP, tool use, orchestration, and multi-agent workflows connecting visual intelligence with broader AI systems.
- Partner with software, product, and AI engineering teams to integrate models into customer-facing products and internal platforms.
- Establish rigorous evaluation methodologies around model accuracy, latency, reliability, scalability, and real-world performance.
- Help shape technical standards and architectural decisions as the organization expands its AI capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Strong professional experience in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Applied AI, or a closely related discipline.
- Start-up experience
- Deep understanding of modern computer vision and deep learning techniques.
- Strong Python development skills and experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Experience taking ML/CV systems beyond experimentation and into real production environments.
- Strong understanding of model evaluation, data pipelines, inference, optimization, and deployment.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, APIs, containers, and modern software engineering practices.
- Familiarity with multimodal foundation models, vision-language models, LLMs, or generative AI is highly desirable.
- Exposure to agentic AI, MCP, tool calling, multi-agent orchestration, RAG, or related emerging AI architectures is an asset.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and solving problems where the technical playbook has not already been written.
- Most importantly, you have a builder mentality. You enjoy owning difficult problems and shipping technology that actually gets used.
Compensation Range:
- Competitive base salary up to $250K, depending on experience.
- Hybrid environment with only 1 day per week required in the Mississauga office.
- Opportunity to work on high-impact, zero-to-one AI initiatives with significant technical ownership.
