KDM Constructors is a construction and maintenance company created in partnership with three Saskatchewan First Nation Communities. Our company is able to reinforce the trusted relationships individually built by each community to progress forward as a collective.
Position
Reporting to the Superintendent, you will be responsible for performing general laboring tasks. As a labourer, you will also be required to follow all policies and procedures in a safe and appropriate manner.
The position will be based on a 7-7 shift rotation. This schedule may be subject to change based on the needs of the client.
This position will be located at BHP Mine Site - Jansen, SK. This is a camp-based position. Jansen Discovery Lodge at BHP is a state-of-the-art camp that includes the following: full-service cafeteria, housekeeping, gym with a raised running track, library, and theatre.
Job Duties
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
- Review material and tool inventory and update logs.
- Deliver material and parts.
- Responsible for fire watch and confined space monitoring.
Spotting people and equipment.- Clean and fuel equipment.
Communicate any unsafe conditions or wear and/or damage of equipment to supervisor in order to facilitate corrective action.
Set-up and maintain various size water pumps and associated hoses.
Utilize lawn mowers, weed whackers, and various tools to maintain grass and weeds around site.
Snow removal.
Clean up various garbage and construction related material.- Assist various trades people as required (i.e. carpenters, ironworkers, HVAC operators, plumbers, and equipment operators).
- Manage other various tasks that arise providing you have the qualifications to perform them safely.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic equipment and safe operation of tools
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Effective self-managing, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to work in labour intensive conditions
- Pre-employment medical exam and drug test will be required
