What You Bring to Seneca
Education
- Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline required.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in discrete mathematics, discrete structures, mathematical foundations of computing, or related subject areas is preferred.
Experience
- Postsecondary teaching experience in discrete mathematics, mathematical foundations of computing, computer science, or related subject areas is preferred.
- Industry and/or applied experience in mathematics, computer science, software development, algorithms, cryptography, data structures, computational theory, or mathematical modelling is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical computing applications and real-world problem solving.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of discrete mathematics and the mathematical foundations of computing.
- Proficiency in propositional and predicate logic, mathematical proofs, sets, functions, and relations.
- Knowledge of number theory, modular arithmetic, Boolean algebra, and logic circuits.
- Proficiency in combinatorics and probability, including counting techniques, permutations, combinations, and the Pigeonhole Principle.
- Knowledge of graph theory, including graph models, connectivity, paths, and isomorphism.
- Ability to apply mathematical reasoning to algorithms, programming, optimization, data structures, and computational problems.
- Ability to translate real-world problems into mathematical models and apply discrete structures to computing applications.
- Ability to teach mathematical concepts through applied examples, problem-solving activities, and experiential learning approaches.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Faculty & Teaching Positions For professor positions, we require copies of official transcripts directly from the issuing institution or credential evaluation from World Education Services (WES) or International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS). However, we recommend that candidates gather any supporting documentation (e.g., unofficial transcripts, scan of credentials) in advance to support their applications in the event that they are successful in the hiring process. The compensation step will be determined based on receiving and verifying relevant formal education through official transcripts and relevant work experience, in accordance with the salary placement calculation process.
