Content Producer & Editor, Video & Social (Full-Time)
TLDR: Serotina is hiring a Social Content Producer who knows how to take a strong creative idea and make it real. You’ll work closely with our lead Creative Strategist to translate concepts into social-first video and content, shaping how ideas should be scripted, shot, edited, and ultimately delivered. You understand what makes content work on social, have experience planning and editing video and photography, can move comfortably between low-fi and more polished production and editing, and know how to turn creative direction into an executable plan and strong final assets.
Location: Toronto (hybrid, remote-first)
Who Are You?You understand the difference between having a good idea and producing something that actually does the idea justice.
You’re a producer with a strong social-first brain. When you’re handed a concept, you can quickly start thinking about how it should come to life: what the video needs to look and feel like, how it should be scripted, what needs to happen on set or from creators, what shots we need, how the edit should move, and what the final deliverables should be.
You understand video production from pre-production through post. You’re comfortable behind the scenes of a shoot, working with content creators, photographers, videographers, talent, and internal teams to make sure the execution stays true to the creative direction.
But you don’t think every good idea needs a massive production. You know when something should feel quick, native, and shot on an iPhone, and when an idea deserves a more considered production approach. You understand that great social content can be low-fi, mid-fi, or highly polished - what matters is making the right production choices for the idea, platform, brand, and budget.
You have taste, judgment, and a point of view. You can look at the first cut and say what needs to change. You can make recommendations on pacing, hooks, framing, scripting, coverage, sound, and edit structure. And you can work underneath a creative lead while taking real ownership over bringing their direction to life.
What You'll DoSocial-First Creative Production- Translate creative concepts and direction into clear, executable production approaches.
- Recommend how ideas should come to life across video, photography, creator content, and other social-first formats.
- Develop scripts, treatments, shot lists, production plans, and other materials needed to move an idea from concept into execution.
- Think through format, pacing, framing, hooks, storytelling, and platform behaviour from the beginning of the production process.
- Help determine the appropriate production level for each idea, from quick-turn and low-fi content to more polished campaign work.
Video Production & Shoots- Lead and support the execution of social-first video and content shoots from pre-production through wrap across always-on content, campaigns, and special projects.
- Work closely with content producers, creators, talent, editors, videographers/photographers and other production partners.
- Direct or guide content execution to ensure footage stays aligned with the creative idea and intended final output.
- Make practical recommendations around locations, talent, props, equipment, coverage, and shoot structure.
- Be comfortable getting hands-on with shooting when needed, particularly on nimble social productions.
- Source external freelancers across videography and photography when needed.
Post-Production & Editing- Oversee content through post-production, from raw footage to final delivery.
- Action and execute complex editing and production beyond the capacity of social media content creators and junior content producers.
- Review cuts and provide clear, actionable feedback on pacing, structure, hooks, transitions, sound, framing, and overall storytelling.
- Understand how editing choices differ across TikTok, Reels, Stories, paid social, and other short-form formats.
- Work directly in editing tools when appropriate, particularly for quick-turn or lower-production content.
- Ensure final assets reflect the original creative direction while still feeling native to the platform.
- Identify opportunities for alternate cuts, creative approaches, formats, and versions that make better use of captured content.
Production Planning & Delivery- Build realistic production approaches around creative ambition, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate internal team members and external production partners as needed to get work made.
- Anticipate production needs and potential problems before they affect the final work.
- Maintain a strong standard of craft and consistency across deliverables.
- Keep projects moving smoothly between creative direction, production, content creation, post-production, and final delivery.
Social & Creative Craft- Stay current on evolving social-first production styles, editing conventions, creator formats, and platform behaviours.
- Bring references, techniques, and production ideas to the creative team.
- Understand when a piece of content needs more craft and when adding more production would actually make it worse.
- Develop a strong understanding of each client’s visual world and help maintain it across ongoing social content.
General- Attend virtual team meetings and in-person team moments.
- Submit task reports and maintain accurate time tracking in Teamwork per Company policy.
- Communicate promptly during business hours (Monday to Friday, excluding Canadian statutory holidays).
